I find it interesting how major characters like Mario, Sonic and Megaman aren't there but characters from the games, ARE.

Any idea who half of these characters are though?

This has been confirmed as fanart. Thought as much. For starters Sega have oly revealed that mega Drive games will be on the Wii, not Master System ones as well.
