Ok so this next thread has gotten off to a bad start. It sounded funny at the time when describing my tastes.

But yeah things seems to center around those sort of themes, along with Game music (although the Baldry thread is an exception). Any weird or more unusual things you guys try out there?

When it isn't the odd bit of metal and techno\dance, Funk and groove seem to be my cup of tea. I have a bunch of collection cds with those (i think Cheryl Lynn is my fav of those but there are competitors for the title).

Soul and Jazz goes down quite well with me too. Some of you know that Seal is one of my favourite singers. I'm also into Ronnie Laws and as of recent the James Taylor quartet. I'm currently looking up this guy named McCoy Tyner.

And if it means anything i like this Russian singer named Angelika Varum as well.

So back to you guys.

Disclaimer note: Indie and Metal do not suck. Don't be a muppet.

Agreed. 'Everything In The World Is A Balloon' (this title may be different) was on a Rough Trade compilation I borrowed and I swooned.

ALSO: Hot Chip, The Presets and Death From Above 1979 I recommend that might not fit into either. Then again, they might do...

Take a look at the John petrucci album, "Suspended Animation".

Prog rock with full blown guitar masturbation, where John takes no shame in going
"Look at me, this solo's been going on for over a minute and a half, fucking good innit?"

Anything by Mike Oldfield is pure genius (out of the thirty albums of his I own, I've yet to not adore any of them). (If you're feeling adventurous, hunt down the album Songs Of Distant Earth)

The Sonic Youth album "Bad Moon Rising."

And if you like deafening walls of sound lullabying you into a state of drunken empowerment (Or, a 16 minute long droning racket, that does things to your brain) look for the John Peel session that SUNN O))) did, Candlewolf Of The Golden Chalice :p
