Ah yes. My fan game is back, but it's still under construction. As the game has it's own site, it's in my sig, and the forum is at my site. Anyway, here is the story by ShadowX and me!

Well, I decided to use ShadowX's story he gave me, so here it is. Don't blame me if it's dumb because it is still being worked on.

X and Zero were out on a cliff, looking over the sea, to where the sun was setting ... and to where Sigma's fortress was ...
"Maverick Hunters!!" A reploid called. "We need your help! The city is getting invaded by mavericks!!" As the reploid stood there, the reploid looked hurt. "Please. I'm one of the only to escape from New Sky Lagoon."
"Sky Lagoon!?!" X called out. "We'd better help out Zero!!" The Sky Lagoon was right by Maverick Hunter HQ. "Zero! We have to save Maverick Hunter HQ!!"
"Yeah!" Zero called out. "We'd better stop the mavericks before they destroy the Sky Lagoon like what Magma Dragoon did!!" As X and Zero left, some one stopped them.
"X, the mighty maverick hunter. You will never stop me!!" A mysterious voice spoke.
"Sigma ... it's you!!!" X called out.
"Yes, and how slow you two are, you'll never stop me!!" Sigma replied.
"X, go. I'll take care of Sigma." Zero ordered. "Sigma! You'll never stop me!!"
As X left, Sigma spoke to Zero, "Why Zero, I'm not here to stop you. I brought an old friend from your own DNA." Zero was shocked.
"Nightmare Zero!?! That's impossible!!" Zero argued, and then there he was.
"Ah, Zero. Nice to see you again. The fact that we are together. I am more stronger than you are. You'll never stop me!!" Nightmare Zero was once again alive, but he commanded to some creatures. "Go Nightmares! Take over the reploids!!"
"No! how were you able to come back!?!' Zero demanded.
"Ah, as you can see, Gate created copies of your DNA, and created copies of the Nightmare Zero. You will then get anihilated." Nightmare Zero called out.
"Wait! Where is Sigma!?!" Zero shouted, but the only response he got was no answer.
Meanwhile, at the HQ ...
"No way!" X called out. "This is impossible!!" The HQ was invaded already. X's only choice was to continue through.

The rest is for me to finish!!!

The sprites? I'm still working on them at the moment. If you wish to see them, it's at my forum.

Well, we need someone who can help us with using Game Maker.

What sort of help are you looking for? I'm reasonably good with Game Maker, though I say it myself, so I could possibly help if you want. I'm currently working on my own Zero fan game with it, but I'm sure I'd be able to do a bit of Game Maker programming for another game as well.

Hmmm... With the running problem, I think I'd have to have a look at the whole list of events to work it out for sure, but the first thing that comes to mind is, you might like to check that the sprite action isn't conflicting with anything. I mean, I'm guessing you've got something somewhere that resets the sprite to the idle one, so if when he moves he just plays the idle animation, it's possible that the A-key event is setting the animation to run, but then whatever other event you've got is setting it back to idle. If that is the case, you'll need to have something that makes it only set the animation to idle if you're not running. But like I said, I'd need to see to be sure.

Just a little tip, too, you can save yourself extra sprites if you use the variable "image_xscale" because if it is set to -1 it effectively mirrors the sprite, which means you only need sprites for one direction.

I don't have the registered version, but I might be able to make an example of how my thing works, which could solve some of your problems, using my Zero sprites (I have running, dashing, variable jumping, wall sliding, and wall kicking all pretty much sorted now). Only thing is I prefer scripts, but you should be able to work it out. :p
